University of Alabama, Birmingiham (UAB) has conferred the “excellence accomplishments in teaching” award to Malay for the year 2020. Malay currently teaches two very highly-rated courses at UAB.

Malay Basu is currently an assistant professor of bioinformatics at the Department of Pathology, University of Alabama, Birmingham (UAB). His research interests include bioinformatics and computational biology, evolutionary and comparative genomics and computational genomics.
He is also an award-winning educator and directs some of the most highly-rated courses at UAB.
